Golf is one of the most precise sports known to man, and makes use of a club and ball to play. Various types of clubs are used to hit a golf ball into a hole, with the fewest strokes possible. The game of golf doesn’t require a standardized playing area but instead is played on a golf course which has a unique design of its own. Golf courses typically consist of either 9 or 18 holes. Good golf players are characterized by those who can use the least amount of club swings to get the golf ball into the most number of individual holes in a complete round, which is known as a match play.

Initiating a game of golf consists of motioning a ball into play by hitting it with a club on the tee. This initial stroke needs to be a long shot although it’s common for golfers to suspend the ball on the tee before they are able to strike it. The tee is a tiny peg usually made out of wood whose primary purpose is to provide a slightly more elevated position for the golf ball, about a few centimeters high.

For shorter holes, shorter clubs called irons are used. The ball will eventually come to rest again, which is when a golfer can strike it again as many times as he needs to using a variety of striking techniques such as pitch, approach, or lay-up until the ball physically reaches the green. Then they use a technique called putting to advance the ball into a hole, and one who is able to do so in as little strokes as possible can win the game. However, there may be certain obstacles such as rough patches of long grass, water hazards, and sand traps designed onto the green to provide the golfer with more of a challenge.
