Rugby league is a type of a full contact sport where 13 players on two teams play on a grass field. It is recognized as one of the most competitive team sports due to the intensity of physical contact involved. The objective of the rugby league game is to advance the ball by kicking or carrying to the opponent’s goal line, and scores are recorded by grounding the ball, known as a try. When one teams scores a try, they are awarded a chance to try at goal with conversion, wherein they kick for more points. The other team will then try to prevent them from earning more points by providing physical obstacles to increase difficulty for the player to reach the goal.

Apart from tries, teams can score more points through field goals and goals as well, within 80 minutes of the game. However, it may occur that there is a tie after two halves of a game that lasts for 40 minutes each, and in this case a draw may be called or extra time may be awarded, following the golden point rule. These outcomes will depend on the format of the competition.

With the various methods that points can be scored, a try is the most common. Teams usually score with a try when they run and kick a ball up field toward the goal, but they can also pass it from one player to another around the opposition. To successfully earn four points in a try, they must be able to make the ball touch the ground in or past the defending team’s goal. However, a field goal is only worth one point and is earned when a player drops then kicks the ball on a half volley between uprights. In rugby league, the field position is the most crucial, and is achieved by kicking the ball or running with it. Passing between players is only allowed to occur sideways or backward.
